  1. first make sure you get some good tape it runs from anywhere from 7 to 20 $ then from 2 inches away fro toe to 1 inch away from the heel ( dont tape the heel because the friction will slow you and make your slap shot alot slower) then tape from the top part of the shaft to about 7 inches down. so when ur skating you dont loose grip of the stick. making the lines on it is over rated i dont like it but if you want to do it first you pull a LONG stip of the tape spin it and wrap it around the top part of the shaft then take the tape and tape over it. it you want a ball at the top wich is a waste of tape the cut off alot of tape put it into a ball packed tight and tape all over it and to the top of the stick. make sure you change the blade tape every time the tape gets ripped to insure your stick is kept in good condition

  2. You tape from heel to just past mid-point. If you tape the tow you lose all feel and you ended up having to retape more often due to the tape getting worn faster. If you just tape the are that you shoot the most from, you won't have to retape as much and you will have better feel when stick handling.

  3. theres no such thing as a perfect taped stick... it all comes down to how do you like your stick taped. You can go the Heatley and just tape the middle, Ribeiro and go heel to middle, or tape the toe like many players. Its all about what you like. You can put wax on the tape to prevent snow build up as well. But you gotta have tape on your stick or the puck will slide off easily

  4. Toe to heel is better for shots, but other than that it doesn't matter. Also, tape the toe so the stick doesn't crack as easy.

  5. J Dub has it there gopredsgo.  It takes a lot of practice.  Make sure, when you tape your stick as well, that you pull just enough tape, as if you were to wrap 2 times, so you can easily wrap around the blade.  It is hard to explain.  Maybe get to the pro shop and have them do it the first time and watch how it s done.  Tape, like anything else is getting expensive for what it is.  Also, end the tape job on your backhand/ back of the blade. You should overlap only about 1/4 to 1/3 of each "wrap" if any of this makes sense.  Practice if you can with other tape, on something other than your stick, if you can. a good example is the way a tennis racket handle is taped, same principle. Hope this helps.

  6. I don't use tape I use a product my friend came up with. It is called BladeShark. It is a very rough, heavy-duty grip tape that only adheres to the front and back faces of the blade. It offers tremendous grip, and it is super durable. It works best on composite blades, as the composite material is hard, and slick, and the untaped bottom slides on the ice better than a taped underside. Check them out on the internet. Google BladeShark, and see for yourself!

I'll never use tape again! For roller, or ice!
