I've just joined a new school, and today was first day where i had all my lessons. I've mostly sat in wrong places next to popular people who might not even notice me or really find me interesting or anything, so first wrong step. And even in some lessons there are people who are more suitable to be friends with, how do i approach them? i mean i don't even sit remotely near them. There was one guy who was in two of my lessons who walked past me going home, but i didn't greet him or rather, he didn't even notice me.

What should i do...? or is this still okay for a first day?

  1. Are you allowed to move and sit next to someone else?

If not, have a talk with your teachers and explain that there are some people who you would like to get to know more and that you would like to sit next to them. Just be polite to them and there shouldn't be a problem.

  2. Try to be friendly and smile and say hi to people you know. Maybe greet some neighbors that are your age and be nice. Most importantly: TALK! There is this new girl from texas that a yard duty asked us to have her join our group since she is really quiet, and once I waved to her and said, "Hi Kelly!" but she didn't even say anything back so it makes her look like a snob, even though she is shy.

  3. make new friends. just strike up a normal conversation with someone you sit near, or ask someone if you can sit at their table or next to them.

  4. don't worry you should pay attention to what people talk about, so when you talk to them it won't be weird and not know what they talk about.

at lunch, go somewhere which looks relaxing and eat lunch, with a book or something. be happy!

  5. Where do you live, If you live in TX you could come to my school! Gospel Chapel School! It's a private church school!

  6. sit next to the people u feell comfortable with..i wouldnt go with the "populuars" tht wuld make u nervous.

  7. oh man, this sucks. I know what its like to be part of a new school and what not. I went through it in middle school and also college, of course. The best thing you can do is try not to be shy, just be outgoing and approachable...don't exclude yourself. Maybe, next time at lunch why don't you ask a table of people who seem nice or approachable if you can join them? In class, try to make conversation...maybe if you don't understand something ask somebody sitting next to you if they do? Even if they aren't the type of people you usually associate yourself with, be open minded. If you're allowed to move your seat, sit next to the people who you think you would feel comfortable around. The best thing is to just be confident in yourself and friendly. Try not to outcast yourself!

    Good luck!

I hope things get better for you. =]

  8. try finding other people that dont have friends and sit with them

  9. gosh.....im going through the same thing!

except that i dont have anybody to sit with...ive sat by myself for the first 2 days of school =/

but anyways, a good way to break the ice is for you to like...ask somebody in class a question about the work. Then go from there and just let the conversation flow...but try and ask people who look nice to talk to, and arent talking to anybody.

    good luck!
