A while ago I was home alone and I watched the movie Stigmata. I was deeply disturbed by this movie. Mutiple times during this movie, I was overcome by a feeling that is hard to describe. My face kept pulling down into what can only be described as a grimace. I found that I was unable to control this reaction. My eyes would fill with tears and I was horribly saddened.I don't know what to make of this, but I'm kind of concerned. I have no idea what this means

  1. I think its a sign of great film making that draws the watcher into the film. I have seen many films which hit nerves and have drawn me into them in an unhealthy way.

Stigmata is a very visual and emotional film, and can do that to more sensitive people.

Here is how I deal with that.

    a) If you have the DVD watch the "making of" film.

b)Watch the credits and think about the people acting the parts and think about what thier life is like offstage.

    c) While you are watching, if you find yourself getting too freaked out, start thinking about how they made scenes with latex scares and fake blood and stuff.

These things usually help me. Good luck.

  2. It is a disturbing movie, theme, subject and anything that unexplainable that leaves one to question one's own reality can only leave negative feelings ...... stabilize yourself with lots of warm fluids, or even try back rescue remedy spray - great for shocks, traumas, grief, etc...it works, it even got my shaking dog to stop shaking

  3. Some people seem much more involved and reactive to movies and television programs as if they have suddenly become uninhibited. You need to get out and rent more movies. (kidding...enjoy) Watch Suspect Zero if you can on DVD and watch the extras. There are many feel good movies as well. Such as 50 first dates and Blast from the Past. After many women get married and have children, they seem to grimace a lot more anyway.

  4. You are very empathetic.  Take a walk outside and get your mind off of the movie.  Remember that it's just a movie.  Do some meditation or something.  And don't watch any more scary movies!
