According to his agent, Sporting Lisbon’s http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Stijn-Schaars-c34229 does not want to leave the club and is looking to regain his form, so that he can be in contention for a berth in the Netherlands team.
The midfielder has unable to churn out the same performances since the turn of the year and is currently lacking the form, which made him an integral part of Domingos Paciência’s plans in the first-half of the campaign.
In 2012, Schaars has been unable to replicate his best on the pitch and a niggling injury has not done him any favours. He also missed the side’s League Cup semi-final against Moreirense but has made 11 appearances and scored 3 times since arriving at Estadio
Jose Alvalade.
Although not the most prolific of marksmen at the helm, the 28-year-old utilizes his passing abilities to great effect on the pitch and is primarily an instigator of attacks, rather than one who finishes them.
With his current form, he hasn’t been able to feature much for the Sportinguistas and this has placed his chances of making it into the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Netherlands-c753 squad in jeopardy. After playing in the World Cup, Schaars is expected to be named in the Euro team but in
his present state, chances of that happening are slim.
However despite his problems, the player will not leave Sporting Lisbon and is committed to the club’s cause according to his agent.
Speaking to reporters, the representative said that his client did not think about leaving Lisbon and he was totally committed to Portuguese giants.
"He is not thinking about leaving. Is he committed to the project of the club? Of course, he is and it is obvious. All teams have breaks during the season.”
The advisor also revealed that the Dutch midfielder was quite disappointed not to have played in the semi-finals of the League Cup, which represent the Lisbon outfit’s best chances of silverware this term.
“He is very disappointed at not being able to play in the semi-finals of the National Cup.”
Lastly, he commented on the injury which had kept the player out for nearly three weeks and revealed that despite the major setback, he remained determined to secure his berth in the Holland squad that would travel to the European championships.
"It is a goal that he pursues," Karel Jansen was quoted as saying.
Although Schaars should be able to feature for the Sporting team after he returns to his best, making it to the Oranje squad will be a difficult task, as the likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Wesley-Sneijder-c36799 and Rafael Van der Vaart are also looking to cement their places.
However if he has a strong end to the season, then he should be able to make an impression on Bert van Marwijk and perhaps book a ticket to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ukraine-c3032.
