Stiliyan Petrov happy with Paul Lambert at Aston Villa

Despite being diagnosed with the unfortunate condition, Petrov has retained his position as the captain of the Villans. He welcomed Lambert to the club and said he hoped they would do better in the English Premier League in the upcoming season.
Lambert replaces http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alex-c4752 McLeish as the manager at Aston Villa, after the latter failed to lead the Villans to a decent Premier League finish last season. They barely managed to avoid the drop, surviving relegation by just two points in the 2011-2012.
The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Bulgaria-c2861 international revealed he had previously played alongside Paul Lambert during his time at Celtic and was extremely pleased when he heard of his appointment as the manager at Aston Villa. Petrov was certain Lambert would go on to do well at Villa
Park in the new season.
Petrov said in an interview:
“I played with him for seven years at Celtic and I am really happy that he has got the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Job-c18684 at Villa.
I am really confident that he is going to do very well for this club because I know him very well. He is really looking forward to working at this club.”
As for the rest of the team, Petrov believed they would also improve as compared to their poor form last season. He was certain they would be determined to put the disappointing season behind them and work towards improving this season.
He revealed:
"I know the boys will have a great season. I said that the season before wasn't great and we wanted to show we didn't have a great season last season.”
The clubs masseurs Andy Smith and Alex Butler have decided to cycle from Celtic Park to Villa Park in order to raise funds for leukaemia research for the “Pedal For Petrov” campaign in September. The midfielder was touched by their plans and efforts.
Petrov said:
“It is great what they are doing for the leukaemia research and for me as well. It is going to be tough for them but they have been working really hard.”
