I made a post a few days ago, and I've been trying constantly. My right eye has progressed a little bit in the stretching department, but I still cannot get contacts in after a few DAYS of practice. Should I just give up or keep going? Anyone got any tips? I've already seen it demonstrated a lot of times.

  1. O.K.  First, give your eyes a break for a couple of days.  I have the exact same problem as you do, but the technician who trained me to insert my contacts also taught me to hold my eye-lids open with my left hand while inserting the contact lenses with my right index finger.  Next time do this- take the index finger of your left hand (or vice versa if you're left handed) and pull up your upper eyelid, and pull down the lower lid with your thumb.  Then you can lower the lens onto your eye.  Use a mirror and make sure that the lens is good and wet.  Good luck!

Edit:  Also, when you get the contact on your eye, let your lids close slowly, and then move your eyes slowly downward, like you're looking at the floor- it will help the lens to settle onto your eye.  Keep your lids open with your thumb and finger if you can't fight the urge to immediately blink.  It took me forty-five minutes to get my lenses in the first time, it was very hard.

Dude...can you really crank on your eyelids and keep them from blinking?  Mine don't close if I don't allow them to.  I hope it works out for you because glasses are kind of a drag.

  2. what i do is i use one hand to pull down just the bottom eyelid and use the other had to put the contact in.  i also don't get it perfect but i can feel when it's on my eye all the way and then i just look in the mirror with the other eye and use that to help me guide the contact in the right place.

note: i can't put them in without using a mirror, i can't do it with stretching both eyelids open, and i never put it directly on the eye right away (helps me control blinking, might help you too)
