Question:

Still having sciatic nerve problems 1wk post partum?

I had horrible sciatic nerve pregnancy pain for the last couple months of my pregnancy. I thought it was supposed to go away after my baby was born, but it has only gone down. Now, I feel it when laying on my back in bed, rather than 24/7 with baby still in there. Does this go away eventually, or is there something else going on?

  1. It will eventually go away. You got it while you were pregnant because your hips were widening. Now they are returning to their normal width, it is bound to tweak that nerve until things are back to normal. My mother's sciatic nerve was pinched after she delivered and she had no feeling in her left leg for three months until her body finished readjusting itself.

  2. i had the same problem, my doctor told me to walk as close to a half mile a day as i could because to helps relieve the pressure and lose the weight that is putting the pressure on the nerve, it really seem to help the pain fully went away after 3 months.

  3. I had the same problem when I was pregnant with my daughter. I actually had to go to physical therapy because the pain was so bad. It took about a year for the pain to go away completely, but you get a whole new backpain from carrying around baby and all of his belongings :-)
