  1. hammersmith is much better

  2. I lived on the edge of Hammersmith and think it's a great area to live in.

It's still quite central and has good bus and tube connections (and it's easy to get to Heathrow from there). Plenty of bars, restaurants and shops, and you're near to the river which has nice pubs along it.  You're also not far from Shepherds Bush which has the Empire (good venue for live music) and good bars.

Have a look at this http://www.myhammersmith.co.uk/

I found Hammersmith and Fulham council better than some - and council tax dropped in the past 2 years!

  3. I used to live in Leytonstone and I liked it.  The best things were that things are cheap around there, food, rent, clothing, etc.  The bad points are that is not that close from zone 1 and I, personally, did not like all my neighbours (I was scared of some, lol).  But the people in general is nice, perhaps is just where my house was placed.

I would choose to live in Hammersmith, because is close to where I work and I consider the area nicer, but that is based just in my opinion, I guess you could hang around both areas to form your own concept.

    Hope it helps.

  4. I live in Leytonstone, and I love it.. Its quite central, without being in the middle of the city, and the rent is still quite reasonable... it has a large irish population, and recently a large south african one, but being a proper east london town, there's still loads of proper east- enders there too.  I would definitely recommend Leytonstone!!!
