Question:

Still need laundry help?

I have been trying so hard to get my laundry to have a specific scent. Somone suggested Gain original. I went and bought it and its not it. I need a very strong fabric softener or sheet that smells like soap. Not the perfumy ones on the market. That is what this Gain smells like. Just clean, like just stepped out of the shower after using a simple soap. No matter what I do, my clothes don't keep the smell of anything I wash or dry them with. I have front load machines. I wonder if that makes a difference. Please, please someone out there suggest something else besides gain, downy, bounce. There has to be a fabric softener liquid or sheet that stays on the clothes and smells like SOAP, not perfume. thanks all.

  1. Have you tried Cuddle Soft - Fabric Softener.

I use 2 caps full of fabric softener to all my loads.

  2. Buy a liquid detergent and smell it before you buy it.  I use Arm and Hammer and it smells clean to me.

  3. My favorite smell is the smell of clothesline dried clothes.  It stays on the clothes for sometime, just smelling fresh and clean.  Hope this helps you!  Good luck!

  4. Dreft for babies is good. Have you ever thought of washing all  the junk out of your wash? No soap once in a while. If you can find **** and span in powder form ad a little to to wash.

  5. I just bought a front-loader, and I've noticed that although I use a strongly-scented laundry detergent and a strongly-scented fabric softener, my clothes don't smell as good as with my old agitator washer.

I put a few drops of my favorite fabric softener in a spray bottle of water.  Use more or less, depending on your preference.

I then spray my clothes with the mixture after they come out of the washer.  Sometimes I use a dryer; sometimes I use my clothesline.  I respray the clothes as needed.

Be very careful when doing this, as fabric softener can leave (temporary) spots on your clothes.

This is the only solution I've found to keep my clothes smelling like my favorite fabric softener, "Amethyst Mist".

  6. Sometimes front loaders gove clothes a musty smell. I learned this from epinions.com on front load washers.  The remedy is to change the gasket and to wash the washer empty with just bleach.  I wash my washer empty about once a month with bleach (I have Whirlpool top loaders and are HE).  THis may be the culprit of your non-clean smell.   If not try a detergent with bleach included.  I use Wisk and sometimes Tide with Bleach and their is not astrong perfume smell.  Good Luck!

  7. try useing downy mountain fresh or sunggle in the blue bottle ... i like the liquid better then the sheets . no a front loading machine does not make a diff
