Still no progress and intent shown by National Hockey League Commissioner Gary Bettman
There are already 4 weeks gone since the previous CBA contract ended and the National Hockey League (NHL) lockout began but still there is no progress shown by the officials of both NHL and NHL Players’ Association (NHLPA).
It is causing a lot of frustration among fans now that after the cancellation of pre-season and first three weeks of the regular season, we are once again heading towards a whole season lockout, as it happened 7-8 years ago in 2004-2005 season.
There is no intent shown by the NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman, who has not spoken to his counterpart Donald Fehr since the last meeting. Negotiation talks are supposed to take place and they should fix the problem as soon as possible for the restoration
of the game but they don’t appear to do so.
The two parties met on Wednesday and Thursday but apparently they could not reach an agreement or any solution of the ongoing problem, that is now starting to cause some protests and a feelings of anger among all the fans. Some fans are so upset that have
started coming out of their homes to record the protests.
The Associated Press was sent an email by Deputy Commissioner of the NHL, Bill Daly, in which he cleared that there is nothing scheduled for upcoming days and they have already talked what they had to, as he said,
"We've talked. There is nothing scheduled”.
With every second passing, it looks difficult that the regular season will begin and the lockout will end any sooner. Players are already leaving NHL in huge numbers as they were already prepared for such situation to take place when the contract ends.
Most of the top foreigner players have gone back to their native countries to play for their hometowns or top European leagues of the world, like Swedish league (SEL), Russia’s Kontinental Hockey League (KHL), Finnish League.
Whereas the American players are joining Minor Leagues like American Hockey League (AHL), Western Hockey League (WHL), Ontario Hockey League (OHL), Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) etc.
NHL fans still would be hoping to see their players back as the NHL lockout ends.
