Still single at 31. It's causing me a little grief?

ALL of my friends are married with kids, except me - who does not even have a BF. I feel really left out and kind of depressed about it. Even my married friends seem to be hanging out with other married couples than with me.

Esp in our culture (asian indian), girls past 30 and still single, is a rarity. That makes me feel even more uncomfortable. Always have to field people's odd looks and expected questions.

I do keep myself busy, and live a normal life, but still, the sadness and anxiety lingers everyday. When will I ever find 'him'.....I do so want to have a family and live a settled life with a family, like other girls my age.

How is it that everyone found their special someone except me. It sucks. At 31, would u say am still very young? Or kinda crossed the line towards Older?

More than anything, I was needing some support and reassurance.

Thanks guys.

  1. At the end of the day if you don't fit into the social norm you are usualy made to feel bad about it.

Realise you don;t have to look at it like that. Stop thinking that you should be like others your own age, sod that, what does it actually mean to you?

If you really want a realtionship then go out there and get one

    only way really

  2. Definately NOT old.

I havent found my special someone yet either and I am 38 - I do however have my son, who is my other special someone.  He takes up all of my time and energy so at the moment I dont have time for a bloke in my life.

I was always told that when your not looking for it, it will happen.  That was certainly the case with my last partner.  I was single, extremely confident, happy and sure enough it happened.  Just enjoy life, be confident and it will happen.

  3. You are single and young. I have met Indian people who married as the main priority. The saddest person I have met was one of these people. This women  was stuck with a man who made her life miserable. I think learning to love yourself unconditionally is the secret to living a good life. When you  learn to value yourself, you become irresistible to everyone including men.

  4. 31 is still young enough to get married and start a family, dont worry. You should try online dating through Match.com or Eharmony or something like that. It seems like they really work.

  5. Even if most of your friends are married, that doesn't mean you should feel obliged to get one as soon as possible. Love and relationships are a complicated thing. It takes years to finally find the person you want to spend eternity with. 31 is still a very young age. There are even people that are in their 40's and are still single. You still have plenty of time, and if you're busy with work, try social networking sites like eHarmony.com, Match.com, Chemistry.com, etc. There are tons of other sites just for that. Don't worry about what other people think. Live your life whichever way you want to.

Good luck and I wish you a happy life!
