I'm no angel, I used to smoke pot, but I stopped when I was 25. As a parent we tell our children not to do drugs. So why do so many parents get high? Do you feel that there is something wrong with a man or a woman who gets high everyday and is a mom or dad?

  1. some parents just cant take the stress and commotion

i'm sure if i could afford it i would too just to deal with my husband LOL

i would have to say.... that would be a SWEET therapy!

  2. Every day?

I'd say that person has a drug problem and is using the drug as a crutch.  It's no different from someone who's drinking enough to get buzzed every day.

On the other hand, the only issue I have with a parent who occasionally smokes a joint or whatever, is that pot's still illegal, and getting busted can ruin one's career, and even cause a risk of having your children taken away.  The legal ramifications are far more serious, than the drug ones, in my opinion.

I don't think pot's any more damaging or dangerous (and perhaps much less so) than alcohol.  But booze is legal and pot's not.  That's really why I gave it up when we started having kids.

  3. i'm 26. my parents smoked pot everyday during my childhood. and they still do. and will forever.

i think it's annoying because they would forget me sometimes and would be too lazy to do stuff because they were high.

financially, they always supported me. it's all good with them now that i'm adult and out of the house. i have my own child now, so i dont worry about that c**p anymore. i dont do drugs at all.

  4. I don't see a problem with recreational use of marijuana.  But daily use is as bad as abusing alcohol, coffee, or tobacco.  Yes, they are all drugs, too.  I don't use any drugs,  but think it should be up to the individual person to choose.  Of course I live in the U.S. and we all know how much we cherish our liberty.

  5. lol.  although illegal, its a personal choice.  I know there r the people who will say 'thats a bad example'  yep sure is.  people set bad examples 4 their children everyday-cussing, drinking, premarital s*x, smoking...etc.  how people want to raise their spawn is their choice.  I must state for the record that 'I DO NOT SMOKE WEED'   even though my parents smoked it around me on almost a daily basis when I was coming up.  you are entitled to your opinion but u cannot put others down for theirs...

  6. yes, if they lie or hide it or it is destructive to them. not if they are honest & productive with an otherwise healthy life.. everything in moderation & honesty is the best policy.

  7. no pot here, my kids need shoes...lol!

and a mother to talk to that's not "high"

besides, there are better things to spend money on...  sheesh...

Val is right, drugs are for the weak!  =)

by the way, those that do weed and have kids, this is why we don't allow our kids over to your house anymore...

I actually knew a lady who let her teenage son do weed as well!  such c**p if you ask me...!

people who don't respect the law suck...!

  8. Well Duh!!

And smoking pot at 25 is stupid as well!

  9. I gets high. It's what I do, my body was built for it.  I can't take a drink and I've never been drunk. Weed relaxes me and gives me an appetite.  I find absolutely nothing wrong with it. As with alcohol, I wouldn't want my son partaking in it while he's young (under 20).  When he gets older if he wants to take a drink now and then or smoke something, I really wouldn't mind.  The only way he could break my heart is if he became an addict- to anything.

  10. whether you are a mom or a dad, if you smoke pot , there is something wrong with you

    pot is illegal

    pot can ruin your family

    pot is a drug

    drugs destroy families

  11. Anyone who brings any type of illegal activity into their homes when they have children are MORONS.

    It makes me sick.

  12. I don't think there is anything wrong with recreational and responsible use of marijuana whether a person is a parent or not. Obviously, like with legal drugs, the marijuana user, must practice moderation and at responsible times (ie. not when you're driving). Smoking a little pot is less intoxicating than sharing a bottle of wine with your partner (unless you're a drunkard of course...). Plenty of parents have a couple of glasses of wine or beer with dinner or when ever and there is no one thinks twice, why think twice about marijuana? If you're educated about it, you wouldn't.

Cigarette smoking is actually much, much worse to expose your children to. Yes, marijuana is usually smoked and causes lung damage, but no one smokes 25 joints a day, plenty of people smoke a pack of cigarettes a day and around their children!

The keys are moderation, recreation and responsibility. Marijuana has a bad name because it is illegal, there is too much propaganda about it and some people use it irresponsibly. Of course, a person is much more likely to become addicted to and abuse alcohol, coffee or cigarettes than marijuana which is not in any way physically addicting.

(Teach children not to use hard drugs, not to harm themselves and to learn moderation. Scaring children away from drugs, actually draws some children towards drugs. Look at the binge drinking problems in America, where drinking is considered bad. Those sorts of problems don't occur as often in Europe where drinking in moderation is more socially acceptable and something young children see all their lives.)

  13. never smoked pot in my 40's and no one beleives this

  14. I tried pot when I was a kid (about 16) one time.  That was it.

    I never used drugs.

    Drugs are for the weak.

  15. all things in moderation.

The problem comes in when it interferes with your ability to parent.

to me getting high everyday is stupid regardless of who you are.  That's like getting drunk everyday, it speaks of addiction and if you're always stoned or drunk then you can't do other constructive things.  you shouldn't drive when you're stoned or drunk.  there are activities that I enjoy that can't be done when your senses and judgment are impaired by intoxication. (rock climbing is one, hang gliding is another)
