Still time for Bernard Tomic to make use of the holidays – Tennis News
20-year-old kid, Bernard Tomic, might have had a terrible season at his disposal but the New Year always bring a different luck and promises and the season break can be utilized to bring the act together; minimize the faults and
maximise the positive aspects of the game. The fellow Queenslander, Josh Eagle, who is coaching a foreigner national number one, Marinko Matosevic, analyzed the situation of the Aussie youngster and made few remarks that will help the kid gain the lost momentum
and revive the glory days.
Eagle said, “There'll be two weeks with a physio and a hitting partner, then that will change. I would just like to see him get back to the basics: get a good group of people around him and be prepared to listen to them. I think
that until he does that it's just going to be hard because the whole dynamic that he has around him this year just hasn't worked. Some of his efforts this year have just been dreadful.”
On answering a question about taking up the responsibility of coaching the youngster, Eagle said, “Bernard is an unusual character. He marches to the beat of his own drum. I wouldn't want to coach him.” There seems a problem with
the attitude of the Aussie player as far as the last comment of Eagle is concerned but the major problem at the moment is the lack of form that needs to be dealt as soon as possible because the new season is just around the corner.
Tomic will commence the 2013 season in Brisbane International where he was the eighth seed player this year. However, he will not be a seeded player because his ranking has spilled down to the 52nd spot in the world
at the moment. He was once amongst the Top-30 players in the world but the downfall has definitely hampered his game style and confidence along with the ranking. He reached the semi-final at Brisbane this year and lost to the top seed Briton star, Andy Murray.
He will have to work hard to match or improve that performance considering the situation he is in these days.
