Still trying to understand why people still are willing to believe in religion/myth. Any insight?

Could it be that you are searching for something that is beyond our understanding?  Perhaps you wish for something that is not of this world and you lack faith.

Many noted philosophers and theologians have espoused the idea that faith is the basis of all knowledge. One example is St. Augustine of Hippo. Known as one of his key contributions to philosophy, the idea of "faith seeking understanding" was set forth by St. Augustine in his statement "Crede, ut intelligas" ("Believe in order that you may understand"). This statement extends beyond the sphere of religion to encompass the totality of knowledge. In essence, faith must be present in order to know anything. In other words, one must assume, believe, or have faith in the credibility of a person, place, thing, or idea in order to have a basis for knowledge.

So it appears that one must have "faith" to be in a position to understand why individuals continue to believe as they do.  Keep asking yourself this question and who knows, your quest may lead you to other unexplored paths and perhaps even faith?  Good luck to you.

well,i believe in religion because the law of conservation doesn't cut it for me. if matter can not be created or destroyed,then the big bang or whatever event that led to the creation of our universe couldn't possibly have happened.

Howdy,

         i guess people need to believe in something in their life and these two topics are right up there. So if it gives a person something to look forward to and something to live for, i say go for it. Just like some people love their animals and some people love their cars and wouldnt be without them. It helps pass the time of life.
