Question:

Still vomiting long after drinking?

It's happened about 3 times over the last year that what starts out as a hangover continues through-out the entire day, almost 24 hours. I had a lot to drink last night: beer, rum, whiskey, and more. I vomited several times before passing out around 4 or 5am. I woke up at 8am and felt ok but went back to sleep shortly. Then I proceeded to wake up every 2 hours on the dot and vomit (bile then eventually just dry-heaving) until 7pm tonight. It's 9:30pm now and I'm still extremely queasy and a bit dizzy.

Another time, the same happened: vomiting like clockwork for 12+ hours after drinking, I thought I had food poisoning that time but it just wasn't logical to what I had eaten.

Each time I eat before, try to stay hydrated, etc.

Anyone have any suggestions?

  1. You need to stop drinking so much!!!  That would solve your problem!

  2. wow that seems extreme for eating beforhand and drinking water...

i usually try to take a gravol  right after i throw up. i find that after i get sick i actually feel perfectly fine, then a little later is when ill start feeling sicagain. the gravol should help calm the nauseus feeling and should help you to stop from throwing up

after you take it and you become abit mroe stable keep drinking water to rehydrate yourself but stay away from food...

afater about 6-8 hrs after youve last gotten sick, try making some jello and eat it slowly

make sure you relax and get lots of sleep

i got very drunk once and i too almost thought that for how sick i was, i thought i must have had the flu or food poinsoning. it just kept on going on and on very similar to whats happened to you

anyways, hope you feel better soon!

  3. it seems like u have alcohol poisoning. try eating carbs to soak up the alcohol beforehand. or just eat A LOT something similar happened to be once before but i didn't puke as much. that was when throughout the entire day, i didn't eat that much. try spacing out each shot/drink. so wait at least 15-20 minutes before u go for the next drink. don't binge drink to anything equivalent to 5 shots. if your tolerance low, maybe don't drink that much.

  4. I would recommend switching your alcohol altogether.  You might have a common food allergy to one of the alcohols (lets say wheat), which is making you sick.  Contrary to popular belief eating carbohydrates does not "soak up" and get rid of alcohol.  It does "soak them up" as a sponge, but keeps them in your digestive tract even LONGER.  Definitely eat and consume lots of water.  I would suggest not mixing different cocktails and just stick with one.  That doesn't mean switching brands back and forth throughout vodkas or gins either.  You drink Stoli for your first drink...you stick with stoli all night.  If you keep getting sick, stop drinking immediately.  Your body ma not be able to break down the alcohol in a timely fashion, which may indicate low enzyme (alcohol dehydrogenase) function, or poor liver function.  See a doc and get tested for heptaic functions.  Don't chance it if you get sick all the time.  Drinking isn't owrth it if you cannot enjoy it!

  5. ya im the same way all the time!!!!! its sucks. When you drink, try not to mix what you drink. IF your gonna drink beer, drink only beer, if you gonna drink vodka...only drink vodka if you gonna drink jack only drink jack...when you mix the alcohol it makes everything way worse...and the only way to cure a hangover is to do nothing...lay in bed watch tv and sleep as much as you can until the next day. Usually when i drink like that i can't do anything at all the next day.

  6. Just sounds like a really bad hangover.  Besides what you're already doing, try to avoid mixing different kinds of alcohol, and you may want to take your intake down a notch.
