Croatian national team manager Igor Stimac has launched a verbal attack on Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy, and accused him of breaking promises made to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Luka-Modric-c22857 regarding a move to Real Madrid.
The Modric saga has truly begun to run its course and has started taking its toll on everyone. The player has headlined newspapers, magazines and football website ever since he stated his desire to leave Tottenham two seasons ago, citing a new challenge
and Champions League football as his main reasons.
However, the club refused to do business with Premier League rivals, and managed to hold onto the player successfully up until now.
Real Madrid came calling this summer, and it looked as if Modric would finally get his wish and head for the exit door. The Tottenham board however had other plans, especially chairman Daniel Levy.
Tottenham were not willing to lower their £40 million valuation of the midfielder, and Madrid were not willing to pay such a huge amount for the Croatian, no matter how badly they wanted him.
From here started a dramatic series of events where Modric refused to train or travel with the squad, was charged with two fines for behaving in an unprofessional manner, and then apologized for his behaviour later on.
The player tried everything to force a move away from White Hart Lane, but all he got was a training ground all to himself, as he was ordered by manager Andre Villas-Boas to train in isolation and ‘get his head right’.
Daniel Levy has been the subject of criticism lately, with many people blaming him for breaking promises made to Modric over the summer and not letting the player leave.
This time, Croatian national team manager Igor Stimac joins the pack as he hit out at Levy before last night’s game against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Switzerland-c3016. Speaking to the press, he said:
"http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Daniel-c9879 Levy promised a year ago that if an offer from Madrid arrived he would let him go. And when the offer arrived he changed his opinion.”
"I think that this guy tries to make himself famous in the world of football, but this isn't the way to do it. When you promise something you always need to fulfil it. It was the same with (Dimitar) Berbatov before he signed for Manchester United. He went
there on August 31."
"It's the only thing he wants, to go to Madrid.”
