My parents are on SS and VA Disability so they have not had to file taxes for several years. They did not receive a stimulus check because they didn't file taxes for 2007. Is it too lake to see if they qualify? If not, who would they contact?

  1. They need to file a return to be eligible - they have until October 15 to file it.

  2. Visit IRS website for your answer.  IRS has a section just for stimulus.  You will need to write STIMULUS on the top of the Form 1040.

  3. If their only income is SS and VA benefits and they are only filing to get the stimulus they must file a paper return. Using the following link for a copy of 1040A they can easily do so. Just complete the name, address, SS# sections and filing status sections. On line 12a put the amount of SS and VA benefits received, on 12b put "0" (zero) . Write STIMULUS ONLY at the top of the form and the bottom of the second page. Put their SS#s on the second page (in case the IRS were to lose the first page) and sign the bottom. Mail it to the IRS before 10/15/2008 and they should send them a stimulus check.
