Stimulance check?

me and my husband are getting the check but we broke up and i want to know if he can cash it without me... im a house wife and he works but he calimed me on the taxes .. i just want to split the check but im afraid he will cash it before i can get anything... do both spouses have to sign the check like we did for our tax check?

Yes, it's just like the tax refund check - both people have to sign if it was a joint return.

If you have a joint bank account, he could deposit the check without your signature into the joint account then take the money out.  You could do the same thing.

hi yes he can cash it with out telling you in no just cause you 2 signed it does not mean any thing at all ever he can cash it in be gone with the money just like that in it depends where the check is being sent to

Another woman in a question the other day had the opposite problem: she had the check but her husband refused to sign, and her bank wouldn't take it. It honestly depends on where he got the check cashed.

The thing is, this is a lesson learned: file your own taxes (all you had to do was file this year to get the rebate).

If the check is made out to the both of you, you will have to sign it.  I'm not sure about your financial institution, but at the credit union I work at, all government checks are required to be signed by the person(s) its made payable to.  I think it's enforced so the person the check is written to get the benefit of the money, not a parent, spouse, etc.  That's not saying he won't try forging your signature on the check and cashing it.  If he does that, contact his financial institution and inform them that he cashed a check with your name on it without your consent.

Depends on how strict your bank is with making deposits.  I'd follow up with them.
