Stimulus check question?

So, my friend's dad just received his stimulus check. Unfortunately, he passed away in March, 2008.

Is it okay to deposit the check into an account within his estate, or does she need to send it back?

It's part of his estate, so deposit it there.  He would have been entitled to it even if he'd only lived for part of 2007.

i would say send it back or it could be considered a crime and i wouldn't want to mess with the irs so just have her to send it back to the irs

how can i be wrong for its just like if a person who is getting social security checks and that person dies then the living can't cash the check or they could face criminal charges
