Stimulus check versus back child support?

if the custodial parent is owed an outstanding amount of money through another state for arrears will the tax stimulus check be taken from the non-custodial parent?

  1. YES it should.  You must have made a claim through your state which is forwarded, then the refund and rebates of the parent with child support arrearages is grabbed to reduce the amount their child is entitled to for support

It is my understanding that if you owe money to any city, state or government agency, then your stimulus check will be offset.  One of many examples that I know of happened to my son-in-law.  He filed his federal income tax and received it. When it was time for him to receive his stimulus check, it was offset by the Department of Social Services for child-support.  Some people get by and some don't.  I would suggest that if you owe money for child support or anything else of that nature, that you do the right thing and send your stimulus check to the person who is taking care of your child.  Good luck!

  3. Yes this happen to my daughter who owed back childsupport for my grandson to me . I got the stimulas check.
