Stimulus???

Question

Ok, I owe the IRS money. But anyway they sent out stimulus checks for people to go buy stuff to stimulate the economy?right??? Well then why does the government put the money towards what you owe the IRS. That doesn't boost the economy. I think we can do without the IRS.

Did the stimulus $ get the economy moving?  No.  People couldn't afford to buy non-essential items.  That $ went to bills, food and gas.  And just to answer your comment.  The IRS always keeps any windfall if you owe them $.  Look at it as a payment on your existing debt.  At least you owe them less $ now.

Stimulus checks are the worst idea of the decade. Yea lets take American debt one step further and borrow money to give to the American public to spend it on foreign goods (electronics/gas/food etc). Just how is that supposed to help the American economy? Or is it the nail in the coffin of democracy?

I think we could do without the stimulus checks. Yeah, that's a smart move when we've got the largest debt in US History. Let's shell out some more money!
