Stina Gardell wins Women’s 400 yards IM gold – AT&T Winter National Championships
Stina Gardell of USC-CA won gold medal of the Women’s 400 yards Individual Medley (IM) on second day of the 2012 AT&T Winter National Championships in Austin, TX, USA on Friday, November 30.
Gardell enjoyed a wonderful lead over her competitors from the start and proved her way towards the finishing wall for the title.
With her astonishing pace, she remained prominently ahead of her challengers and surfaced on the finishing blockade with a wonderful timing of 4 minutes and 03.79 seconds for gold medal.
The champion was followed by Celina Li of PLS-PC, who stayed nearly four seconds slower from her and proved her mettle for silver medal by producing a time of 4 minutes and 07.95 seconds.
The second position holder was followed by Haley Anderson of USC-CA, who suffered a loss of only 0.65 seconds from her foregoing finisher and ended her race in a time of 4 minutes and 08.60 seconds.
Fourth fastest spot of the race was obtained by Jessica Schmitt of USC-CA, who remained 0.90 seconds slower from her foregoing finisher and touched the wall with the timing of 4 minutes and 09.50 seconds.
Schmitt was traced by Kaitlin Pawlowicz of UT-ST, who stayed 0.48 seconds slower from her foregoing finisher and concluded her race in a time of 4 minutes and 09.98 seconds for fifth position.
Sixth spot of the discipline was obtained by Andrea Kropp of USC-CA, who stayed 2.23 seconds slower from her former finisher and surfaced on the finishing end by clocking an effort of 4 minutes and 12.21 seconds.
Kropp was traced by Dorina Szekeres of IU-IN, who was 0.74 seconds slower from her foregoing finisher and transpired on the finishing end for seventh place by hitting the wall with a timing of 4 minutes and 12.95 seconds.
Eighth position of the event was obtained by Anna Senko of UCLACA, who stayed 1.65 seconds apart and reached the wall by submitting a time of 4 minutes and 14.60 seconds.
Furthermore, Gardell was overjoyed with her notable form in the discipline and raked medal for her performance after the event.
