  1. dont get any  they both are no good  more drag

  2. Save your money. The hydrofoils that you add on are largely not effective. Another issue to consider is once you add one most boat repair shops will charge more labor to remove /replace it to service the lower unit. Best bet is to find another who has a similar setup with a hydrofoil and see if it helped their situation. Normally add on hydrofoils are like a chrome dipstick..... its pretty but doesn't necessarily make it go any better...

  3. David's 1/2 right that it'll only help if you have a planing hull...the other half is having enough power to get and hold it up on plane.

  4. Unless they make small 1s don't bother with 4 hp as i doubt it would plane out> A 6 or 8 yes>

  5. Save your money, foils wont make any difference on a 4 horse.

  6. I have used the doelfin on an 18' and was very happy with it. This will help only if your boat has a planing hull.

  7. You shouldn't use the "fin" with this HP motor at all.  It will only create more drag and slow your boat.  If you had a larger motor, there might be some hydro "lift" that may or may not have been of benefit. I hope this helps!  Good luck!
