Hi everyone, I had a tooth extraction on one of my back molars on tuesday and it was extracted by the dentist cutting my gum to get it out.

However theres a stitch by one of my canine teeth and what I was wondering how can I go about brushing this tooth? Im scared I'll brush the stitch out.

Im rinsing with salty water every few hours.

thanks

  1. You just have to be careful and brush gently, if you are gentle you won't take it out. To be honest even if it did come out after a day or two the gum will probably have healed by then

  2. I think you can cut down on the salt water to 3times a day now.Just brush as you normally would but when it comes to the stitched area brush a little gently and gingerly.........good luck.

  3. I had 4 wisdom teeth extracted a few years back and had a mouth full of stitches. I brushed my teeth, as close as possible, like usual and the stitches stayed in place. The mouth heals very quickly and I would say carry on as usual, by the end of the weekend the stitches won't even be needed.

  4. ouuchh that suxx,, but yeaa just

brush carefully around that areaa so you

    wont get an infection :)

  5. Just be very gentle with the toothbrush. I've had oral surgery and was told not to brush the area with the stitches for a week. I was also given an oral rinse from my dentist that would clean that area until I could brush it. Contact your dentist and see what he says. I'm really surprised he didn't give you any specific instructions and a prescription oral rinse. Maybe you should find a different dentist. Good luck to you.

  6. I would just wait until the stitches are out, and then brush that tooth, or just take your finger, and wipe at the tooth. when do the stitches come out?
