Most types of stocks do not pay monthly.  Some that do are REITs  (such as MPW) and energy trusts (such as PWE) typically pay dividends monthly.

But monthly dividends don't make them a better buy.  You can loose more than the dividend through share price drop.  Instead of focusing on frequency of payout you should look at the reliability of the payout and how solid the company is.  What good is a nice dividend if you lose 50% of your investment?

no, not in the UK. Probably not anywhere. You can construct a portfolio of a few stocks paying divs in differentr months.

No. All the companies I've ever researched pay quarterly dividends.
