why not buy a mobile phone that can provide decent quality internet?

an integrated PDA/Phone does the trick for me; HTC pretty much dominate that market, have a poke at their site and see if anything takes your fancy.

That said, your average Nokia/Ericsson can fetch you stock quotes no problem usually.

Your broker will provide quotes over the phone.  Most even have automated systems.
