Stock shares transfer?

If you have shares in a stock , and the stock symbol changes to another company, do all your shares transfer to the new company?

  1. Yes they do - if they just change the ticker. If you have the actual certificates for the stock you can call the company about the ticker change or company sale. If you hold the stock in a brokerage account, the company will change the ticker in your account statement for you.


  2. If you're talking about just a ticker symbol change, it makes no difference.  

    If your company is acquired by another, there will likely be a reissue of shares in the new company and/or some cash payout.
