  1. I would suggest you phone up a firm of stockbrokers and ask what they require for a job. Most need some sort of financial services degree and a very good standard of education. I once worked for a stockbrokers and it was very boring stuck in an office all day.

  2. stockbrokers will look for a degree from a good university with traditional statistics / economics as major.

Most candidates will have a masters.

Working part-time / holiday in financial services will help, even if it's accounting - they'll be wanting good references from well-know financial institutions.

It's a very competative marketplace for recruiting - so you'll need to work hard at school / college.

There's a good facebook group for people looking for jobs in the city - join that & ask there.

    Best of lucK!

  3. I am in this business in the states and can tell you how it works over here. First off you need to be well educated, unfortunately not the most intelligent well educated people will get the job. The most important part of getting these jobs is "who you know" not "what you know", which comes through networking over time. So in summary i would recommend getting a good education but not relying soley on that - but also focus on meeting people in the business and developing a network of people that can help you get ur foot in the door.
