It is gonna be a tropical freshwater tank. I am thinking a few female Betta's, a few kuhli loaches and a bristle nose pleco. What else? I like colorful exotic fish!=)

  1. I like Rasboras, even if they are 'beginner' fish - but I'd be wary of housing anything with the female bettas. They can be territorial and aggressive with other fish, even other females, and it really is all up to the personality of the fish. If by some chance they do all get along on the first try, they can gang up on other fish in the tank.

If you still want to keep the girls with other fish, get a full school (at least 6) of them - I'm still a fan of Rasboras! - and put them first in the cycled tank. Add the bettas all at once - this makes sure that no one's 'queen of the tank' beforehand - and make sure you provide lots of plants and driftwood caves.

If you have your heart set on Kuhli's, provide a heavily planted tank with fine gravel or pool filter sand. I've seen bettas harass bottom level fish as well and a bed of 2 inch deep sand will give them some escape space.
