Stoke City's manager, Tony Pulis, has urged his side to recapture their focus on the Premier League football after the Potters qualified for the finals of the FA Cup, beating Bolton Wanderers in a one-sided affair. Pulis’s side thumped past Owen Coyle’s
Trotters by a hefty 5-0 margin in a match played on Sunday, 17 April at the Wembley.
Stoke are just five points clear of the drop zone and are not yet out of danger with six games remaining in the season. Manager has pushed his side to get their act together if they want to maintain their Premier League status for the upcoming 2011-12 season.
Former Bristol City manager was all at praise for his team, who despite of having performed inconsistently throughout the Premier League campaign, kept on crossing the barriers when it came to FA Cup. He was delighted to see his team in the final of the
competition where they will take on Roberto Mancini’s Manchester City.
Further commenting upon the importance of Premier League football, Pulis said, “We have a plan in place, we want to build gradually and slowly, he said. But if we get relegated we will be devastated. We have to make sure we regain our focus on the league.
We are desperately keen to finish in the top half, that is our main aim.”
Stoke City are currently 13th in the League table with 38 points and Blackpool, who are lying in the relegation zone are 18th with 33 points. The Potters will have their work cut out in their remaining six games but one thing that goes
to their advantage is that four of the six fixtures are up against the teams hovering around them.
Tony Pulis side will travel away to Villa Park to take on Aston Villa before they host bottom placed Wolverhampton Wanderers. Then the Potters will make a trip to Bloomfield Road to take on Blackpool before they host second placed Arsenal. Stoke will make
their last trip of the season to the City of Manchester Stadium to take on their fellow FA Cup finalists, Manchester City. Tony Pulis side will play their last game of the season on the 22 May against Wigan Athletic.
