Stoke City boss Tony Pulis admitted he was confident that Thomas Sorensen was close to signing a new contract with the club. The 34-year-old Sorensen will be out of contract at the end of the season and has not yet signed a contract extension.
According to Pulis there have been talks with the Stoke City number one over an extension. Pulis said while speaking to reporters, “He's been talking now about a new deal with the board. We hope that'll be done in the next couple of days.”
Edwin van der Sar set to retire at the end of the season
Even though 40-year-old Manchester United goal keeper Edwin van der Sar is still in excellent form, the Dutchman revealed he was still going to retire at the end of this campaign. Van der Sar announced his decision to finally retire earlier on and
revealed he was going to stick to it.
The goal keeper described as the best ever at Manchester United by Sir Alex Ferguson arrived at Old Trafford in 2005 from Fulham for an estimated price of £2 million. Ever since then he has been a permanent part of Ferguson’s squad, maintaining his
excellent form.
Edwin van der Sar said while speaking to reporters, “I don't hate the thought of retirement. I am looking forward to it. I am at my peak and it will be nice to finish at my peak. Maybe it is a weight off my shoulders. It is nice to get recognition
from the fans and I will miss football and the buzz. It has been 20 years.”

With the threat of losing out to Manchester United in the title race, Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is determined to try anything. According to recent rumors he is currently considering bringing back Jens Lehmann, a move which could either make or break
his side’s season.
The 41-year-old goal keeper is set to spend six weeks with Arsenal, but did not confirm anything in a statement to the press. Lehmann said while speaking to reporters, “I am in London and so far have heard nothing of such plans, but you never know.”
