Stoke City expected to bid £6 million for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 striker Daniel Sturridge
Stoke City have emerged as contenders for Chelsea striker http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Daniel-Sturridge-c10076, who spent the latter half of last season on loan to Bolton Wanderers.
While the 21-year-old English striker did not receive regular first team football at Stamford Bridge, he got a decent chance to prove himself at the Reebok Stadium.
Sturridge scored an impressive eight goals in 12 appearances he made for the Wanderers in the English Premier League.
After which Bolton Wanderers boss Owen Coyle urged the youngster to remain with the club for another season or two.
Even though Sturridge was aware that remaining with Bolton would guarantee him regular football, the youngster insisted on a return to Chelsea.
He claimed that he was willing to compete with the likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Salomon-Kalou-c32266 for a place in the starting line-up.
However, that will not be the case, especially with former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Porto-c39186 manager Andres Villas Boas being appointed as the new Chelsea manager.
The young Portuguese manager is expected to bring a host of players from Porto to refresh the existing squad at the London club, including striker http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Radamel-Falcao-c30276.
This could only mean one thing for Daniel Sturridge, no place in the starting line-up for yet another season, which could urge him to make a move away.
Stoke City boss http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Tony-c35440 Pulis revealed he was planning to bring in new signings, not having spent in the summer transfer window as yet.
He revealed the top six clubs' spending in the transfer market would encourage the lesser sides to make new signings too.
Pulis said in an interview:
“It’s going to be an active market and an expensive market this year.
The top six clubs are all looking to spend. That always filters through.”
Pulis revealed that with the activity expected to increase in the transfer market, his side would also go on to make new signings.
The Stoke City boss continued:
“Sunderland have sold big, Blackburn have sold big and there will be other clubs who will have a little bit of money in their pockets to go out and buy players.
I expect it to be a very difficult market but a market where there will be a lot of movement.”
Stoke City are expected to start off with an offer of £6 million for the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 under-21 international.
