While the 21-year-old admitted he was happy with the Scottish outfit, he refused to rule out a move to the English Premier League in the near future. The midfielder plays defensively and can even function as a central defender, making him a highly sought
after player in the current summer transfer window.
After joining Celtic in 2011 from Belgian side Beerschot, Wanyama made 41 appearances in total and scored four goals in the Scottish Premier League winning season. He cost the Scottish side less than one million pounds, but is now expected to be sold for
much more.

Wanyama said in an interview:

It will be difficult to leave Celtic because I have just had a good season here and we are now playing in the Champions League.”
However, he admitted it would be tough leaving the Scottish champions, who had qualified for the UEFA Champions League next season. The Kenyan midfielder wanted to play in the European competition, but the thought of football in England was too much to give
up.
He revealed:
“Celtic are one of the biggest teams. I've been happy here, and the fans have been brilliant to me.
But it would not be a terrible thing for me if the club agree to let me go, and they were to get a good offer. They are the ones who decide.”
Along with the fresh challenge the English Premier League was sure to provide, Wanyama wanted to have the distinction of being the first Kenyan player to join the English League.
