Stoke Mandeville will host the International Shooting Competition – IPC
Stoke Mandeville Stadium has been a hub for Paralympic sport ever since and will host the three-day International Paralympic Committee (IPC) shooting competition with 77 athletes from 15 different countries taking part.
The shooting competition will give Britain's top shooters the valuable opportunity to compete on home soil and in front of a home crowd ahead of London 2012. Amidst the British athletes that are taking part is also eight-time Paralympic
medallist Di Coates along with, Beijing 2008 Paralympic champion Matt Skelhon, who took up competitive disability shooting after being injured in a car accident in 2005. He is joined by compatriot Nathan Milgate, who is the defending champion at next year’s
Games.
Matt Skelhon said, “I am looking forward to the upcoming event as it is a great opportunity to compete on home turf one year out from the Games. It's great to have competitors coming so far afield. I am confident I will perform
to a high standard and my training has been going very well.”
The competition will give shooters from all over the world, some of whom are from Australia and New Zealand, a valuable advantage of competing on British soil. In addition, it will also give the public a chance to get a close performance
of some of the best shooters just prior to the London 2012 games.
Chief Executive for WheelPower, which is a national charity and disability sports organization for wheelchair sport, Martin McElhatton, was of the opinion that the event will be a out of this world.  Event organizers also hope
the event will help create awareness of disability sport and promote real talent and prospect for people with impairment.
The organizers are looking forward to seeing different sports being displayed at Stoke Mandeville Stadium so that the youth can get inspired by a wide assortment of sports.  Moreover, this event will persuade disabled people to
try shooting for themselves so that the event can develop even further in the future.
Participants of the host team are in good physical and mental form and shape and furthermore, the head coach and performance manager of the British team, Pasan Kularatne, was extremely excited and honoured to host this event for
the second consecutive year.
During London 2012 Paralympic Games shooting is one of 20 sports that will be played and the competition will take place at the Royal Artillery Barracks near Greenwich which is the same location where the Paralympic archery event
will also take place.
