It doesn't start immediately, it starts after I have ran for a while.

  1. Sometimes its digestion and sometimes its breathing and sometimes its diet.  For digestion, watch what you consume ahead. For breathing, make a point of expelling carbon dioxide. For diet, make sure electrolytes are in balance.

  2. Is it your actual stomach or more of a side pain (what people call a "stitch in your side")? Those are normal; I think they usually happen if you don't stretch or warm up enough before running.

  3. Uh huh... right up under where the ribs meet your stomach... know it well.

Have to breathe deep... belly breathe. Bring as much air into your lungs as you can and push your stomach out when you inhale. It don't look pretty, but basically you stretch your stomach out underneath your rib cage and push any trapped air out. You don't have to do it all the time... but do a few (like five) deep breaths like this when you start to feel it coming on.

Also, I found it really helpful to do some core strength training (balance ball situps, etc) when I was training. Most don't realize how much core is involved in running.
