I am 18 and this entire summer I have been sick in my stomach. I've been really stressed with going to college and moving out and boy troubles, but i just kep getting worse, so I went to the doctor and he gave me an acid reducer, because he thought it was my reflux (which I had when i was a baby) but that didnt help and it got to the point where id eat a piece of toast or something and would feel like i just eat a big turkey dinner (i couldnt move and i'd feel like throwing up) so i went to a specialist and he ran a bunch of tests and came to the conclusion it really was just relux and it all got better, but now its getting worse again and now i have severe constipation! i havent gone to the bathroom in 5 days!! and im really concerned...is there anything i can do, at least about the constipation)????

  1. maybe it's because of your stress, try to relax

  2. I have had the same problem for a few years minus the constipation and every doctor has said its cause stress. I highly suggest you take less classes and try not to worry about so much. And try having more fun to keep you busy and less stressed. Other then that nothing else has helped me.

  3. Are you eating fiber - fruits, vegetables?  Eat whole grain cereal, bread - anything high in fiber.  You can also buy some stool softeners.  THey're not a laxative, but will soften your stool when you do have a movement.  Eat a banana, an apple, or try oatmeal before you go to bed.  They all produce bulk and should work.  Relax, kiddo.  It'll be ok.

  4. Stress is a problem when it comes to body functions (in basic training I didn't have a bm for 2 weeks). That being said, you might want to see a different M.D. not a family Dr. a psychologist. Perhaps maybe they could help you manage your stress by giving you ideas to cope with it.
