Question:

Stomach makes strange noises after eating dairy?

I'm not sure if it is lactose intolerance.

I have just ate an ice-cream I bought from an ice-cream van and my stomach is making really loud gurgling noises.

The other night when I had ( a lot ) of chocolate, it did the same, followed by diarrhoea.

2 weeks ago, I could eat dairy products without feeling weird after. I also burp quite a lot after eating/drinking dairy.

Could it be lactose intolerance even though I haven't had this problem before?

  1. oh i thought it said diary, my bad..

  2. You possibly could, try eating a lactose free dairy product and see if you get the same reaction. Or go visit your doctor for a checkup.

  3. Yes you could. As a child I didn't have any issues with milk and cheese and what not, but then at about 13-14 It started becoming more and more of an issue. Now I don't eat dairy at all because I know I'll be sick (gas, stomach pains) afterwards.

  4. It's called flatulence.

  5. Yes, it does sound like lactose intolerance.

    I am lactose intolerance and even when I drink a glass of milk I end up with diarrhoea, I get bloated and release a lot of gas!

    Does it happen if you eat food that doesn't contain any source of lactose? Including whey, curds, milk-by products, dry milk solids and nonfat dry milk powder. A lot of food does contain whey or whey powder, my stomach is fine with a bag of crisps (which contains whey powder from milk).

    It is best to go to your doctor and get a test done, you will drink a liquid and then your breath will be tested for hydrogen gas in the sample.

    Also, if you are lactose intolerance, you obviously can't eat dairy, so you need to get your calcium from other foods.

    Other foods that contain calcium are:

        * broccoli,

        * soya milk

        * horseradish,

        * watercress,

        * red kidney beans,

        * soya beans,

        * cabbage,

        * peas,

        * celery,

        * parsnips, and

        * fish containing edible bones, for example sardines.

  6. yes it's lactose intolerent. Most people are slightly lactose intolerent, which makes sense if you think about it because Cow's milk and dairy by products were not made for human consumption. Cow's milk is made for cows. thats why many humans find it hard to digest. You wouldn't feed a cat dog's milk, would you? Or feed a cow human breast milk? I know this sounds weird and paranoid but think about it, we're drinking and eating a product that is made for cows.

  7. It sound like lactose intolerance. As we age, our bodies slowly lose the ability to process certain foods, especially given the artificial colors, flavors, sweeteners and preservatives. I too suffer this same malady. Some days I can tolerate milk and ice cream products just fine. Other days, I dare not leave the house.

  8. Lactose Intolerance can occur without previous problems.  It sounds possible that you are lactose intolerant if you have gas pain and bloating between 1 a 6 hours after consuming dairy. Even if  it is this, you should consider seeing a doctor in order to rule out any other issues. Feel better and good luck!

  9. Sounds like you do have a bit of an allergy to dairy. These things can just start up at any time during our lives. If your worried I know GPs can arrange allergy testing, and sometimes local pharmacies have an allergy testing day every few months for a small fee.
