Stomach pains when running.?

Today i ran 5ish miles at 10am. it was about 82 degrees and humid. halfway through i started having stomach cramps just below my ribs. really bad. when i finished i felt the same pain for about 6 hours after. what could this be?

  1. Does it feel like a side stitch? If so while your running and get the pain Breathe in through your nose HOLD IT for like 5 seconds and breathe out through your mouth till it goes away.

    it could be that you weren't breathing enough/properly.

    was it on both sides or in the whole general area?

    make sure you are well-hydrated.

    make sure you haven't eaten in at least an hour, or more if you ate a lot.

    could you be getting your period?

    could it be strained muscles?

    those are just guesses, though, so you may want to call the doctor just to make sure it isn't anything of major concern.

  3. Add some potassium to your diet. Bananas are known to prevent cramps. One of my relay legs used to get terrible stomach cramps before cross country races and the 4x800 relay. She started eating more bananas and it really helped.
