  1. It depends on what you are trying to accomplish. For example, hot rocks (not over 115*) can help to warm the uterus in cases of blood stagnation due to cold when placed on the lower abdomen. There are many acupressure points you can place them on throughout the body to raise yang qi energy.

  2. Meridian points on the center lines of the body. I would put them along the spine directly on the skin. The stones should be very smooth and only 100 or less degrees for comfort. If you can hold it in your palm for ten to twenty seconds then it is about right, this is my guide line for heat. I hold the stone then lay my warmed hand on the skin count three then place the stone. I leave the stone until the persons body has absorbed the warmth. usually less than 5 minutes. There is a lot of timing and integration of healing involved in the moments of placing and movement. Tai Chi Breathing help center the practice of movement.

  3. I do what's called an oriental hot rocks, and I place the rocks on a towel (they're big rocks) over the persons back. I put two on each side of the spine all the way down and then one shaped like a triangle on the sacrum. I leave them there for thirty minutes and then take them off and go into a Swedish massage. When I do a hot rock massage I just massage their body with the rocks I don't leave them on. This is just my preference I know that you can leave them on if you want. Good luck!
