Question:

Stop being Vegetarian...?

I became a veggie a month ago. I think I'll go back to eating meat, well, chicken and fish. Here's my reasons:

o Impossible to eat out!

o Spending most of my time working out how to balance food.

o Im snacking on food more.

o Meals arn't as good.

o Protein defficient.

Plus, I hate the thought of eating animals, but, I have to admit, if I was hungry and there was a chicken and a fire in the corner, I kill the chicken and eat it.

Also, I feel to hippi-ish being one. When I tell people Im a veg, they're like 'Well, I like eating meat, I think its natural' and I dont disagree with them...

Anyone got anything to counteract my counter-veg diet. I think for dinner Ill have steamed fish and veg...

  1. It's impossible to eat out? Funny, I don't even have trouble eating out as a vegan.

You really don't need to spend most of your time balancing meals. Eat healthily. Snack foods are okay sometimes. Don't forget protein. It's not that hard.

As for protein... beans. Nuts. Lentils. Seeds. Eggs. Milk. Tofu. Seitan.

Eating meat might be natural, but the factory farms where the animals are killed sure as h**l aren't. I'd buy that argument if people were killing animals with their hands and teeth, but the way we get meat is anything but natural.

  2. I've been to two restaurants that I can think of, ever, that had no vegetarian dish on the menu.  And at one, they cooked me something that wasn't on the menu.  I can't really believe you're trying if you can't find something to eat on most menus.

Once you get the hang of it, you won't spend any time working out how to balance food.  It's not that complicated.  Eat plenty of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, legumes, nuts and seeds and you'll be fine.  There's nothing magic about meat and it doesn't have anything you can't easily get elsewhere.  Did you spend a lot of time working out how to balance your diet as a meat eater?

So, snack on healthy things.  It's better for most people, metabolism-wise, to eat five or six smaller meals a day rather than three big ones.  Snacking is not necessarily a bad thing, depending on what you're eating.

If meals aren't as good, that's your fault, not the food's fault.  Get a couple of good vegetarian cookbooks and get creative.

If you are eating enough calories and not trying to live on junk food, you and your diet are NOT protein deficient.  Nobody in the developed world, aside from anorexics, is protein deficient.  If you really believe that, it's no wonder that it's taking up so much time to work out how to balance your diet.  If you bothered to do some nutritional research, you'd have an easier go of it.

Based on your other comments, I'm baffled as to why you're a vegetarian to begin with.  It obviously doesn't mean squat to you.  Go ahead and go back to eating meat if you want, but don't rely on facile excuses.  Just own up to the fact that you don't really care about it.

  3. I was a vegatarian for 18 months, but I couldn't handle it.  It was many years ago and soy products were not so available back then.  Do what your body wants.  Keeping a strict diet takes extra time and energy with a load of research thrown in.  Pescatarian diets eat fish.  (just heard of it recently).  I still eat meat, I don't just down a whole T-bone in one sitting, tho..

  4. vegatarians can eat fish

my mum as been a veggi since a child  she has no problem eating out

    can still balance food out.

its ur life ur choice if want to go bk to eat meat then do so its not a sin or crime to eat meat.

  5. You just made this YA ID today to tell us this. Do what ever you want, it's your body.

  6. u have to search around your area on places that you can eat out, which have some veggie food available. Some places don't but they don't mind giving special orders for veg people - for example, Modesto's (an italian restaurant in singapore) and many others. You don't have to spend time working out how to balance food - eat whatever you want, have a balanced diet, just replace the meat bit with other substitutes, like lentils and spaghetti with tomato sauce  (which tastes de-lish). Snack on whatever you want, as long as you don't feel guilty later. Have breakfast, morning snack, lunch, evening snack, then dinner. Meals are good - it depends on what u have, and on whether u r enjoying it. If you dont enjoy or like the food, then nothing tastes good. Wholemeal bread and cereals are the best source of protein in the world. other than that, there is milk, cheese, egg, and lentils and beans - which have high sources of protein as well, and are vegaterian friendly.

hope i convinced you on vegetarianism not being as bad as it looks. good luck!

  7. It sounds like you are too immature to understand why people go vegetarian.  It's not all about you.  It takes a certain amount of selflessness to be a vegetarian or vegan.

www.meat.org<==If you can watch that and still eat meat then go ahead.

The people that go back to eating meat after going veg are usually the ones who did very little research and were only making a half hearted attempt to begin with.

  8. You obviously weren't serious about being a vegetarian in the first place if you are giving it up after a month.  Your excuses are lame.  It isn't impossible to eat out at all.  I eat out often and have no problem ordering, it isn't hard to balance food; you just have to do your research--there are a lot of protein sources, you don't need to snack on junk because there are a lot of healthy snacks, I find that my meals are delicious, and I find that food actually tastes so much better to me.  There is nothing hippie about being a vegetarian.  Let people comment.  Meat eaters comment because they are ignorant and they aren't informed on the subject.  I love being a vegan.  I am so much healthier and I am not contributing to the cruelty of animals.  Go to meat.com and watch the video and you may change your mind.  You go and enjoy your fish that had to be killed so that you could have a meal.

  9. Eat whatever floats your boat.  Just eat healthy.

  10. Do what you feel is right.

you can eat fish if you want. Sure there are vegetarians who will tell you you can't, but forget them...vegetarianism isn't some kind of religion...they can't tell you what the rules are.

I think it's actually really stuck up when vegetarians are like 'ummm..if you eat fish, you're not vegetarian' and get all mad...I mean, whatever...why spend life caring so much what others do and being s****. about it?

you can easily get yourself healthy again and eat out being vegetarian, but if you want to eat meat, the rest of the world is for the most part...no one's stopping you.

    best wishes.

  11. you could google vegie recipies?
