Stop convincing other boards, send Bangladesh team to Pakistan first, Rashid Latif to BCB President
The former Pakistan captain, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Rashid-Latif-c84084, on Wednesday took a dig at the President of the Bangladesh Cricket Board, Mostafa Kamal, saying that he should first send his team to Pakistan for the scheduled series, and then convince other nations to tour the
country.
"I am really surprised by Mostafa Kamal’s interview. He is talking about convincing other nations to tour Pakistan and at the same time the BCB is unable to yet take a decision on whether to play in Pakistan or not," said the former wicketkeeper of Pakistan
while speaking to media reporters on Wednesday.
Latif’s latest comments have come in the wake of Mostafa Kamal’s recent interview in which he has offered his help to convince http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750, as well as other countries to tour Pakistan, a country that has been deprived of cricket since 2009 due to the unsatisfactory
law and order situation. The attack on the Sri Lankan team by armed militants in March 2009 en route to a cricket match at the Gaddafi Stadium Lahore has made teams wary of visiting Pakistan. In that attack, six visiting players and their assistant coaches
were injuried, while two civilians had to pay with their lives. Since then no international team has toured Pakistan. In the wake of the terror attacks the country also its their hosting rights for the World Cup.
"For how long can we neglect Pakistan? How long can they host their 'home' series at neutral venues?" The BCB president had said during a media encounter earlier this week adding, "We cannot ignore http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 like this."
Latif however, said that Kamal would be in a better position to convince other boards after he sends his team to Pakistan.
"It is really strange, I would think that if http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747 first sent their team to Pakistan as per program it would put Mostafa Kamal in a better position to convince other nations to tour Pakistan.
In a bid to bring back international cricket to Pakistan, the PCB and the BCB had agreed to stage a short one-day series in Pakistan in the middle of April 2012, but the latter is yet to confirm the tour to Pakistan. The Bangladesh Cricket Board seems a
little reluctant to send its players to Pakistan. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Kamal-c70069 had earlier said this week that the decision will be taken by the president of the country and the BCB officials have nothing to do in this regard.
