  1. Audi (1.8t) are turbo engines. THEY NEED premium even with a knock sensor.

So many car can use regular. But not turbo engines.

    Good Luck....

P.S.  I've have already extensive about this issue.  I so wished I can use regular gas too.  Dang I wish I had non-turbo engine in my audi. !!!

  2. Very true, i run 87 in my 2.8L a lot and have no problems at all. You don't notice that power loss when your sitting in traffic.

  3. It all comes down to the compression rating of the engine.  A high compression engine, i.e. 10 to 1 requires premium fuel.  A low compression engine, i.e. 8 to 1 runs on regular.  I have an Audi turbo that runs great on regular unleaded because the compression ratio of the engine is 8 to 1.

  4. At the Audi Dealer I work at, I ask customer what they fill theirs with all the time. This is what I came up with:

    A3: 87

    A4: 87

    A5: 89

    A6: 89

    A8: 91

    Q7: 91

    R8: 91 or Jet Fuel

    S4: 91

    S5: 91

    S6: 91

    S8: 91 or Jet Fuel

    A8 L W12: Jet Fuel (1 Customer)

I had a Mazdaspeed3 which recommended Premium, I filled it with Mid-Grade and it was still a blast to drive. Unfortunately a drunk driver decided to hit it.

    Good Luck
