Question:

Stop showing for work?

I didn't show up to work two days in a row because I was basically stranded in a different down without a way home. My phone battery was dead so I couldn't call them. I did end up eventually getting a hold of my sister who drove to this town to pick me up. I've listened to the messages from my work who were worried and disappointed. They really needed me this weekend because it was busy and I let them down. Now I'm afraid to go back because I don't want to face the noise. I just would rather pretend I never worked there and move on and find another job. Can I do this or do I go back tomorrow and apologize and keep working? Help me out.

  1. i would go back and explain myself to everyone the reason iu didnt show up to work for a couple of days they should understand

  2. unfortunatly ul av to go back or therwise it will look bad on future references.if i cud jus leav my job i wud.unless u find si=umthin else ul av to stay wher u r

  3. I think you should go back, they will probably forgive you if you explain your story.

  4. You should definitely go back and explain yourself. Here's why:

    A. You owe it to them. You said they were worried; you should let them know what happened.

    B. They may not forgive you, but at least they'll respect you for doing the right thing by coming back. It could make the difference in a bad or good recommendation.

    C. They will probably forgive you. It's better for them not to have to train a replacement, and it sounds like you did your best to get there or at least contact them. Just don't do it again.

    Good luck!

  5. First off you should have made better arrangements to get home. Secondly you could have used a land phone to place a collect call not only to your sister but also your employer. Time to put on your big

girl panties and go back to work and explain what happened. If you are lucky they will take you back if you apologize.  You must be an ok worker if they were worried about you. To not go back is to be cowardly. You are an adult act like one.

  6. When you called your sister, you should have called work as well. My best advice, call them now, talk to a supervisor. If the place you work isn't open now, then go in, first thing in the morning, and talk with them. Some places have a rule that they fire you if you don't show up for one shift, others for 3, it depends on your place of employment, as well as the policies and procedures. Just don't walk in there like nothing happened, you made a huge work mistake, now, your just going to have to face the consequences. Of course, if you are independently wealthy, and don't need a job, then don't go back. But, if you don't at least talk to these people, your going to get a very nasty review from them, that you might need, for your next reference, when looking for a new job.
