Stopped Out chasing his maiden chase victory in Dine and View at Catterick Races Beginners’ Chase
Stopped Out will be chasing victory in the Dine and View at Catterick Races Beginners’ Chase in England on Tuesday, February 28, 2012. The winning horse will be awarded with a cash prize of £3,249.
Only five entries have been confirmed for this race, which will start at 4:20 (GMT). The names of these runners are: Stopped Out, Araucaria, Bruslini, Quel Ballistic and Western Bound.
Looking at the overall stats and recent performances of all the above runners, Stopped Out has the best chances of winning today. He has taken part in five chase races until now and finished runner up in four of them. There was only one occasion, where he
failed to make it to the top three.
The seven-year-old gelding has not won any chase event though, as the best he has managed is second place finishes. He has a golden opportunity to change that today by winning at Catterick.
Kate Walton’s trained gelding will be partnered by Richie McGrath, jockey who has won 83 chase races in his career. He will be looking forward to another decent run today.
If there is anyone who can challenge the race favourite at Catterick, it is Araucaria. She has also got a pretty decent track record in chase races and will be running for her maiden victory in such events.
Araucaria, trained by Donald McCain, has participated in four chase races until now. Although she has been unable to win any of them, she does have a couple of runner up and one third place position to her name.
The eight-year-old mare will be ridden by Jason Maguire, jockey who has a decent strike rate in such events.
The remaining three runners are yet to take part in a chase race, so it will be interesting to see how they perform. They have done well over hurdles, but it will be a different situation for them today.
However, Bruslini might prove to be the surprise of the day, as he will be ridden by jockey, Tom O'Brien. The veteran has earned 122 chase victories and has plenty of experience in the sport.
With only five runners taking part in this race, a surprise is not likely. Stopped Out has the best chance to win his maiden chase event.
