Question:

Stopped breastfeeding, got period, now gone!?

I breastfed for 9 months, got my period back June 4th, had a normal period... now I am 6 days late on my period and still have no signs of cramping... I am not pregnant... I have taken multiple tests all negative, and by this point they would have come back positive. Do I just need to give myself time to get back to normal? If I am trying to figure out my ovulation days should I go by that last period?!

  1. You can be erratic for a while after you start up again.  If you're trying to figure out ovuation (TTC again?) you may need to use an OPK and/or chart your BBT for a while.  It's possible that you aren't even ovulating again yet.

  2. You now need to give your body a few months to get back on track.  I breastfed 9 months but I had my first period when my baby was 3 months old....so using breastfeeding as a sure fire what of NOT getting pregnant is not always safe.  I was not regular....like having my period every 30 days until my baby was a year old.....then it just happened on it's own.

Also, if you are no longer breastfeeding you could take birth control and that would help to regulate it quicker.
