Yes, it's theoretically possible to stop time.  Time is different for someone traveling at high speed.  Time is slower for the person traveling at high speed, and time would actually stop for the traveler if he or she could reach the speed of light.  It is impossible for anything with mass to reach the speed of light so a traveler could slow time down almost to a stop, by traveling near the speed of light.  This would be a good way to travel into the future; you couldn't travel backward in time though, to tell people how the future is.

    Also, gravity has been proved to slow time.  The stronger the gravity is, the slower time is for the person experiencing the gravitational pull.  If you have strong enough gravity, time would actually stop.  This is the case for a black hole.  Gravity is so strong that if you could stand at the event horizon of a black hole, (which you couldn't cause it would shred you to pieces), time would stop for you.
