  1. I  used Stopzilla too believing I had spyware. It was the worst decision ever!!!! Since downloading it my machine locks and closes down every so many minutes.  Believing I had a REALLY bad virus I took it to my local computer store who said they had removed a virus and it was not closing down now. On getting home the machine ran fine until I noticed Stopzilla was not loaded so I loaded it again!!!  ( Some people just don't learn) the problems have started again. Even though I instantly removed the programme via control panel the probs persisted and the machine is back on its way to the computer shop to have the thing cleaned.  I will not be downloading stopzilla again.  I would not recommend anyone to get this programme and if you already have it get it removed by a specialist as soon as possible. It advertises help addresses via email but my machine won't stay open long enough to contact them. I have had to revert to my laptop which fortunately I had not installed this on believing it to be the fault of my teenage daughter and chat sites on the main machine ( you have to blame someone don't you?)

    Hope this has helped anyone suffering from Stopzilla.

    Just on the way out to computer shop now.

  2. It sounds like you have a problem.  I don't know what Stopzilla is, but this page tells you how to remove Searchsettings.exe.  I found it on my system and just uninstalling it from add/remove programs like this page said worked fine:

  3. Restart your PC in safe mode with networking

    http://www.pchell.com/support/safemode.s...

    Download, install and run a full scan with Malwarebytes

    http://www.malwarebytes.org

    Run a full scan with Micro Trend House Call

    http://housecall.trendmicro.com/

    After the scans, restart the PC and update your anti-virus, remember to only have one anti-virus installed on your PC

  4. If you have Spybot Search and Destroy:

    Please disable TeaTimer as it may hinder the removal of some entries. You can re-enable it after you're clean.

    To disable TeaTimer:

        * Run Spybot-S&D

        * Go to the Mode menu , and make sure "Advanced Mode " is selected

        * On the left hand side, choose Tools -> Resident

        * Uncheck "Resident TeaTimer " and OK any prompts

        * Restart your computer.

    Download Avira Anti-virus Free download. Don't install yet. Uninstall any and all anti-virus softwares you presently have on PC. Once done, run run updates then do Avira scan, once done and now disable Avira,

    install & run ccleaner

    - add shell integration commands on Recycle Bin

    once installed, right click Recycle Bin and Run ccleaner

    and update run Spybot S&D

    (temporarily disable AntiVir Guard while scan running)

    then update and run Lavasoft Adaware, (temporarily disable AntiVir Guard while scan running)

    then download and run MalwareBytes and run.

    If everything looks good then re-activate Avira.
