Question:

Storage Battery Energy Density indexes?

by  |  earlier

I've been trying to compare cost-vs-energy density for various presently available storage battery options. I am building an EV conversion and most people use flooded lead-acid. I don't like them and I'm willing to spend a little more for a better system. Most present EV-ers don't like the AGM or VRLA options. The toughest challenge is how to compare different options side-by-side with the same criteria. Any suggestions?

  1. To compare batteries use a simple form as example below

    1. Cost

    2. Voltage (Presumably the same)

    3. Rating in AH (Ampere Hours)

    4. Max Charge Current

    5. Total Charge Time At Ambient Temp

    6. Expected Full Discharge Cycles @ 20%

    7. Weight

    8. Max Charge Cycles (Life Expectancy)

The big boys are going down the Li-Ion route but it all comes down to budget and performance.
