Question:

Store gave me multiple refunds on credit card, can they correct/recharge without my knowledge/permission?

I recently exchanged a full-price appliance for a half-price clearance model (same one) that had a small scratch per a tip from the delivery guy. The people at the store seemed to be confused when they credited my card and it turns out they credited me for THREE full price models. Can they recoup the money without notifying me first and what are the chances they'll figure out the mistake. They did correctly charge me for the half price and refund me once for the full price; they just refunded me an extra two times for the full price. I'm going to plan for them to get their money back but I'm just curious if they can surprise me and charge my card without first contacting me or asking permission to charge my card.

  1. Yes, they can. If they discover the error, even a few months down the road, they can charge it back, though they will probably need the assistance of your cc company.

  2. I hope they can.

Actually, I don't know why you don't just call them and tell them about the error.  It would be the right thing to do.

  3. Yes they can , without contacting you.
