How can I best store broccoli and cauliflower in the fridge for about 10 days ? Is it a good idea to cut it into florets and store it in a ziploc bag?

  1. hi there...

how long and how well your veggies keep depends how fresh they were when you got them. But as a rule its best to keep it whole if you're not going to use any preservative agents to keep them from turning colour. Keep the cauliflower wrapped in its own outer leaves and in a plastic bag in the veg crsper compartment of your fridge. Its best to use it before there are little brown spots appearing on your cauliflower. AS for broccolli its pretty much kept well in the same way as the cauli flower but when it starts getting old it goes yellow-ish. Why not patially steam them both and kep in the freezer in ziplock bags divided into portions u will use?

  2. I would leave it in it's whole form. This way, there is less surface area exposed for bacteria/mold to grow on. I would also put it in a plastic shopping bag (that's what I do). Ziploc bags will seal out the air but trap in moisture, which makes it easier for bacteria to grow.

No, don't cook it. I found that veggies spoil quicker when they are cooked.

By the way, why do you want to keep it for 10 days? Why not just buy a fresh one the day before you want to eat it?
